Siblings....

There is something quite spectacular about their relationship. They seem to have such a connection. No one can make my son belly laugh the way his big sister can. I love to hear him call to her down the hallway from his crib first thing in the morning. I love that he calls her E-Ah. (soph-"ia") I love how he calls her SOPH if she doesn't answer him the first few times he calls to her. I love to watch how motherly and protective Sophia is with her brother. She hugs him when he's hurt. Helps to get him a snack or a glass of juice or water. She constantly looks out for him. I absolutely adore their growing relationship. It's pretty special watching them interact with one another. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing amount of love and laughter in my home each day.

I love my family!

Ok, this one I just threw in here because it makes me laugh. I think most little kids do this, but Lukas truly believes that I cannot see him as long as he covers his eyes. It never gets old when he does this! He does it A LOT when I bring my camera out. Nice huh?

And a BIG thank you to my best buddy Amy
who helped me get BIGGER PIX ON MY BLOG! Wooh hoo!
You rock girl!

6/52 The Great Outdoors

Ok, so by "great outdoors" I mean my backyard! Little Miss Sophia has been begging us to camp outside. So, after daddy came home from work today, he got the tent and sleeping bags out. Sophia was so excited! She said she was ready to rough it! If roughing it means wearing your prettiest princess nightgown, bringing out your DVD player, bottled water, and favorite stuffed animals... then yes.. yes she was ready! I have to admit, that's my idea of roughing it too.

This weeks picture is for Sophia. She wanted me to take our picture in the tent. Even though I had JUST walked in the door from the gym, (can't you tell?) I didn't give it a second thought. Lately she has HATED me taking pix of her, so for her to ask me to take this one.... You bet'cha! It's all about making memories right?

(As I sit here typing this blog entry, I can hear my husband outside my bedroom door snoring away in the tent! My poor daughter!)

A New View - 5/52

Upside Down! This image was actually my son's idea. I know I know. How can a 20 month old have an idea for a picture right? Well, he INSISTED on laying upside down and looking up at the camera. When I tried to turn him the other way, he refused to do so and vocalized his objection. So, I gave it a whirl and did things his way. This is what we ended up with. Hmm. Maybe I should let him take next weeks picture. ;o)
Today's lesson - Sometimes it takes someone else to make you see life from a different perspective.

Just like a fish....

She takes to water. My little Sophia seems to be growing up in leaps and bounds. Don't even get me started on the fact that she's about to enter KINDERGARTEN in exactly a month! (you can bet your last dollar I'll be blogging that one!) The level of dexterity, coordination, and determination of my daughter never cease to amaze me.
Recently, Sophia has scratched "learning to swim" off of her to-do-list. Yep! She's really taken to the water like a little fish! She was a little skeptical at first, but as her confidence gradually grew, she was well on her way! I couldn't get her out of the pool the other day. Her poor little feet and hands were pruned beyond recognition! I'm glad she likes swimming so much. It's been great watching her progression.
Here's a glimpse of her new found love for the water....

4/52 .... We're experiencing technical difficulties....

Ok! I'm all for this 52 week idea....... but my kids? Well, they seem to have ideas of their own. This week was a HUGE challenge for me (us). Lukas has been naughtier than the day is long and Sophia... well, she's just been a roller coaster of emotions lately. I think that the fires in our area are really effecting us. We have been staying indoors a lot lately as the air quality outside has been less than adequate. And if the smoke isn't getting to us, the 110 degree weather with 90% humidity surely is. YUCK. We had big plans for our picture this week, but our plans fell through. So, we improvise right? Well, I tried to improvise, but my kids wanted NO part of it. At one point, my daughter actually started to cry and begged me to put the camera away. Lukas on the other hand felt that my camera was a great big hunk of fun! So much so he knocked it off the tripod. (i think my heart hit the floor along with it!!) After that, he wouldn't stop touching the lens. I think he licked the lens during one of our many attempts too! This week exhausted me to say the least. I'm praying that next week is a lot easier. I have lots of ideas, but at this moment, no willing subjects.

I must admit, this picture is NOT what I wanted to post. It is seriously the only image that fits the rules for this 52 week project. If you've been following along, the rules I've made state that I must take one picture once a week for 52 weeks with my kid(s) and I must be in the image some way, shape, or form. This picture BARELY qualifies and I'm almost embarrassed to post it based upon those guidelines. I have plenty of great images of my kids from this week, but I'm not in them, so I cannot use them for this project. I looked through image after image and stumbled upon this one and had a good laugh. I am TECHNICALLY in this image. The pictures that are on the table above my kids have me in them. ;o) Soooooo, because I failed miserably (not for lack of trying though) this week, I'm using this one and calling it good. LOL It's not the greatest image I've ever produced... but it is one I produced this week nonetheless.
Stay tuned as we experience technically difficulty! I pray that next week will be MUCH more impressive! I'm determined!
Thanks for looking...
Happy Friday!

3/52

Happy 4th of July everyone! I have been swamped today with activities! I'm so sorry to be cutting it so close to have my image posted! I haven't forgotten my commitment to project "52". Time has just been wild lately. Today it was a "good" wild though. Sophia learned how to swim and go under water today! I'm so proud of her! She's really facing her fears with swimming. It's SO amazing to watch her confidence just spike when she learns something. I love how proud she is of herself too. Once she figured it out, she didn't want to stop.

Anyway... no real time to edit much of what we took today... so for now, I will leave you with these very sweet images of me and my babies! I'm so happy to have pix of me with my children! I am really loving Project 52!!!!

Hope you had a great 4th!
